Strachur & District Local History Society

Our Society has been gathering information about the history of the region since 2007. Thanks to our generous supporters we have amassed an archive of images and documents spanning c. 150 years.

Our activities are wide ranging and include open days and exhibitions; regular talks on a wide variety of historical subjects; we have listed the stones in Strachur Church graveyard; and published a book.

We hold the Old Parish Records for Strachur and Strathlachlan and are pleased to assist anyone searching their family connections to these villages. Our interest include St Catherine’s and Cairndow, Glendaruel, Colintraive and Kilfinnan and the Cowal Peninsula.
