Love in Dunoon’s American Years

First made commercially in Dunoon by George Stirling’s factory on Ferry Brae, cola has a fascinating local connection. Our spiced and warming Love in the American Years Cola is inspired by the stories of friendship, love and even marriage in the Cold War era. During this time, over 2,000 American Navy personnel and their families were based in and around Dunoon at the Holy Loch Polaris nuclear submarine base.

Sharing housing, schools, shops and good times, American Navy families and local people lived side-by-side. Many fell in love.

Margaret Parker’s Lavender Lemonade

Our lavender lemonade is inspired by Margaret Parker (c 1847 to 1916), a local entrepreneur, dressmaker and designer who ran an outfitters shop for women and children on Argyll Street. Margaret Parker’s entrepreneurial spirit and design skills intrigued us! She was a businesswoman and a Royal Letters Patent holder for Anglo-Parisien dressmaking.

All of our Dunoon Goes POP soft drinks are inspired by local people (People of Place), so for a drink inspired by Margaret, we needed a botanical flavour which is synonymous with both France and Britain. Lavender was the best-fitting option!
