A Centenary Tribute to Ian Hamilton Finlay by artists, poets and collaborators.

This exhibition marks the 100th year anniversary of the birth of Ian Hamilton Finlay (1925-2006) one of Scotland’s most influential 20th century artists. Finlay started his career as a poet who transitioned into a visual artist, sculptor and landscape designer. His most celebrated work is his garden Little Sparta, forty years in the making that is punctuated with architectural/ sculptural text works in the Pentland Hills near Edinburgh. His contribution to concrete poetry along with extensive printed works is extremely significant and influential. Published from the early sixties throughout his career by Hawthorne Press, he regularly collaborated with artists, graphic designers and stone carvers to execute his poetic 2 & 3D works.

This exhibition presents works by friends and collaborators as well as contemporary artists

and poets who were influenced by him.
